December 2022 marks the one hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of the premiere of Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, which took place on December 28, 1897 at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin. This event goes down in history as one of the greatest popular successes ever witnessed in French theater: four hundred performances followed one after the other, before the play was revived in numerous theaters in France (where it is still the most performed play), but also abroad, notably in the United States.

The farewell letter to Roxane being the key element in the outcome of the play, La Chandelle Verte quite naturally had fun playing the forger by giving her the opportunity for a real false materiality!

The calligrapher Julien Chazal created 15 farewell letters to Roxane on aged and stained laid paper (Cyrano's tears and Christian's blood) by him:

The first was scanned and reproduced as a poster printed in 200 copies numbered in Arabic numerals (👁):

The other 14 letters, numbered on the back by small calligraphic Greek letters (from alpha - α to xi - ξ), are framed in between two glasses (different sticks were used) and offered for sale as real original fakes !

As an association under the French law of 1901, La Chandelle Verte is not subject to French VAT. Prices are therefore exclusive of tax.
